The best thing about today was going to see friends in Vernon Hills and watching the fireworks. It was a lot of fun. I felt a little guilty that IK was up so late but he didn't mind. He fell asleep in the stroller on the way to the car and slept all the way home. He woke up a little bit when we put him to bed but fell back to sleep quickly.
However, what gives people the right to be inconsiderate just because it's the 4th of July? Why do my neighbors think that it's okay to set off fireworks that are not legal in Illinois at 12:06am? Loud fireworks that shake my house, make my stuff fall off my walls and break and cause my child to stir. Luckily, IK never woke up. If he had, I would have been calling the police to complain and yelling at the parents of the children who were out there. I've done my share of illegal fireworks. I have set off the loud ones but my parents were responsible and respectful enough to make sure that we didn't set them off in the middle of the night.
I hope that I keep this night in my memory. I hope that I remember how PK and I froze everytime there was an exceptionally loud firework, just waiting to hear IK cry out in fear and frustration. My kid will not be inconsiderate to the neighbors. I'm responsible enough to teach him that, even if they aren't responsible enough to teach their kids that.

So tired but so happy
I'll admit to being very crabby today. I am tired. (See Gina's Scrap to see why.) However, I love my family and I got to spend all day with them today. I have an understanding husband. Even when he gets frustrated with me, he tries to be understanding and supportive. My son is beautiful inside and out. He was playing at a park today. There was a steering wheel and another little girl about his age came over and started to play too. He let her have a turn and didn't complain, even though I could tell that he wasn't done but didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I could see the little wheels turning in his head. "How can I get this back in the nicest way possible?" He walked up to her and said hi and then put his hands on the steering wheel. When she didn't stop playing, he moved on and found something else to play with. I'm sure that this won't last forever and he will go through a selfish stage just like every other kid but I'm very proud of my little boy right now and his easy going temperament. He does not have a mean bone in his body.

IK and his tunnel
Today, IK was playing in his big orange tunnel. I sat at one end and watched with my camera ready and at the other end were some of his toys, including his telephone. I was videotaping him on my phone figuring it would be cute to watch him crawl through the tunnel when all of a sudden, he picks up his telephone and starts to "talk" to his daddy. (Who was at football camp by the way.) It was so cute and I got so lucky that I got it on video! See my facebook profile to watch the video!

Lots of things today!
I'm really trying to keep up with this. I know I never do but I want to!
Anyway, today was a great day. IK and I had lunch with Grandma M. We had swim lessons this morning and my poor little man turned blue cuz it was so cold. I was a little scared but he was okay. I was also asked to be a bridesmaid, PK was asked to be a groomsman, and IK was asked to be a ring bearer! The wedding is next year but I am sooo excited!

1st Day of March
Isaac has started to let go when he is standing up holding on to the furniture. He has gotten a few bumps and bruises since he tends to lose his balance and fall over. Today, I stood him up in front of me and tried to get him to walk to me. He got very excited but I think he feels more secure when he's holding my hand. He grabbed my shirt sleeve and took about 3 steps. He thought he was holding on but I don't think my sleeve really gave him any real physical help! That's the best thing about today.
The last few days have been great because Peter has been around a little more. Most of his sports responsibilities are done so he has been home earlier. I can tell that Isaac is very happy about this! He is very excited to see his daddy when he wakes up in the morning and enjoys playing with him at night!

February 20, 2009
Isaac stands up and walks along the furniture now. He's getting very brave and I think he will be walking before his first birthday! When I picked him up from Ann's, he quickly crawled over to me and climbed to a standing position while holding on to my legs. Then he gave me a huge hug. It's so cool that he is showing emotions toward us now!

February 19th
The best thing about today was picking up Isaac from my mom's. He was sleeping and sort of woke up when I put him in the car. He looked up at Jenny Glinka and sort of giggled and smiled. I think he loves her. Perhaps she is his first crush?! I guess we'll never really know for sure. I do call her his girlfriend though. Sorry John! Isaac is just very special. I can't get over how much I love him. There are some nights when I carry him to bed that I just want to squeeze him and have to control the urge because I would probably do it too hard and then it would be sort of pointless. I know that this picture is on my Facebook page, but I love it so much. It is Valentine's Day and WE MATCH!!

One more good thing
After listing 20 things in my blog that make me happy, I had a great day with my family. I pulled Isaac around in his wagon. He was so serious about it!
Then I went bowling with Peter. We bowled 2 games and realized that we had forgotten Isaac's bottle so we had to go home and get it.
We went to my Aunt's house for my sister's 16th birthday. Isaac puked in Peter's hair. Lisa thought that was pretty funny.
We came home and now I'm going to bed!

Being a Mom apparently means NO TIME!!!
So I decided 4 days into this year that I would post a blog, along with all of you wonderful people, about good things that happen each day. I posted that one time and then never had a chance to blog again. So here I am on February 7th, more than a month later, and I am finally going to post some good things in my life. Here goes:
1. My class is getting easier to handle. I say it is because I have a wonderful assistant in my room now who really understands the kids and what they need.
2. My house is livable. Not as tidy and pretty as I would like it to be but I'm learning to accept that I am not going to be like my mother who keeps her house spotless on a daily basis.
3. Isaac is absolutely wonderful. He makes me so happy. Everyday there is something new to be excited about. Recently, he started pulling himself up to standing on anything stable enough to hang on to. He has taken some steps with the assistance of a walk n' ride toy. He climbs stairs going up but has no clue how to get down.
4. More Isaac--He has a love of animals that I never expected to see in a 9 month old child. He will always try to touch the cat and laughs in delight whenever he sees her. I just wish that Belle would return the favor for Isaac!
5. Isaac again--I think he is part fish. He loves playing in the water. If I start the water for his bath before I get him undressed, he tries to climb in fully clothed. I took a shower this morning and he wouldn't leave the shower curtain closed. So I just took his clothes off and plopped him in the shower with me!
6. I have a wonderful niece who is so cute. She loves Isaac and is learning to play and share. Isaac seems to enjoy having another small person around sometimes!
7. I'm excited to start planning Isaac's 1st Birthday. Seems early, but as a teacher, I know how fast those months fly by. We are already planning and preparing for March and April is close behind. Especially since Spring Break is at the end of March/beginning of April this year. Then the next week is Easter. Crazy!
8. My baby sister is turning 16 tomorrow.
9. I have some pretty great friends. I love that I have people in my life that I can talk to about anything and they are still around the next day!
10. We got to wash one of our cars today since the weather is so nice. Hopefully, we will wash the other one some time today as well.
11. My cat, Belle, finally comes out of the office (where her tower is located) and joins the family when we are home. Even though she runs away from Isaac, it is nice to have her out and about.
12. I love coffee. I never thought I would like regular coffee. I always thought I would need a flavor or it was just not a good drink. I can now drink regular coffee with a little cream and sugar and I enjoy it. Less calories that way!
13. I have lost over 20 pounds since I started Weight Watchers after having Isaac. I am still going strong and plan to lose about 60 more over the next year or so. I'm taking my time and doing it right. That way, when I get to my goal weight, it should be easier to keep it off. Baby steps.
14. Once I reach my goal weight, I am excited to have another child. And this time I have a plan for my weight.
15. I have finally started reading again. After having Isaac, I did not want to read or do any of the normal things that I enjoyed. I am finally returning to normal.
16. Now that it is almost the end of the school year, I am starting to enjoy teaching again. I think I just really did not want to go back after having Isaac.
17. I have played Mario Kart with Peter and actually enjoyed it.
18. I can't wait to take Isaac to the Water Park next weekend.
19. I have a plan for a scrapbook that I want to make of Isaac's Firsts.
20. Embarrassingly enough, I am finally going to take my Christmas Tree down.
Well, that's all I can think of now. The weather is so nice and I'm in such a good mood today. Hopefully, I will keep up with this blog a little better. Even if it's not every day, at least more than once a month!
Enjoy and be happy!

I love this idea to blog the best thing about our day. It is nice to see happy things. I missed out doing this on the first three days of the year but I will hopefully keep up with it for the rest of the year!
Today, the best thing was starting a Bowling Practice League with Peter. Isaac tagged along and we had a really good day as a family. I am hoping that Sundays will be a regular family day!
